The Office of Space Planning provides strategic and thoughtful planning for how space owned and leased by Indiana University is used.

Applying the most efficient management, utilization, and space programming processes allows Space Planning to achieve the best use, functionality, and organization of space to meet university goals and the objectives of both current and proposed facilities.

Space Planning services

The Office of Space Planning has a wide range of responsibilities for on- and off-campus academic, research, and administrative facilities owned or leased by IU:

  • Data management and documentation of space utilization and allocation by following IU space guidelines, which includes:
    • Programming
    • Space efficiency analysis
    • Space plans
    • Space reports
  • Gathering space inventory data and managing the space inventory process
  • Modifying floor plans
  • Integrating GIS data for utilities and campus maps
