Pansy preview

Facility Operations’ Landscape Services team has been tending to thousands of plants at our greenhouses. Here’s a look at what’s coming to our campus planting beds, planters and hanging baskets soon. (Click the arrows on the photo for more images.)

The Landscape Services team will plant 29,000 pansies throughout the Bloomington campus beginning in March, weather permitting. These pansies were started from plugs during the second week of January.

These multicolored pansies wait in Landscape Services greenhouses to be transported to campus. Pansies are planted in groups of three for the best display. The white baskets hanging above the pansies will be used to grow petunias that will later be planted in the ground on campus.

These 25-gallon pansy-filled planters will be placed near the Indiana Memorial Union.

Several varieties of begonias are planted throughout campus each year. These Begonia Big Dark Leaf Whopper have just been transplanted into growing pots, and will be planted on campus around May 1.

These Bolivian Begonias have become a campus favorite and will be used in pots and hanging baskets.

This Vertigo Purple Fountain Grass will be planted in May, and will grow to 6-8 feet. The grass will appear near Showalter Fountain, Sample Gates and other areas of campus.
