Project description

This project will renovate approximately 20,400 gross square feet of space on the first and second floors of Parkside Hall. The renovated space will house the Dwyer Healthcare Simulation Center by creating classrooms, a career center, and an informal learning area to serve the nursing and radiography programs. Additional planned spaces are a nursing skills lab, simulation rooms, energized x-ray labs, a non-energized lab, and a sonography room. Instructional equipment for these spaces, including a 3D virtual dissection table, also is part of the project. Support areas will include debrief rooms, control rooms, storage rooms, and office space. The project will replace the building’s aging mechanical system, including installation of a new air handler to provide necessary capacity along with increased efficiency. The roof will be replaced, and the elevator renovated, as well as fire suppression systems installed, and improvements made to the electrical system to accommodate instructional equipment and occupant needs. Existing interior partition walls will be retained with new finishes including floors, walls, lighting, and ceilings installed as needed. Restrooms also will receive updated fixtures and finishes.
