Project description
The IU School of Medicine Medical Education and Research Building is scheduled for completion in late 2024. Floors 8, 9 and 10, along with a portion of the basement, were designed and are being constructed as shell space totaling approximately 48,000 gross square feet. Additionally, a tunnel currently under construction as a part of the Medical Education and Research Building effort will connect the new education and research building to the adjacent IU Neurosciences Research Building at the basement level, enabling interior movement of staff and materials between the two buildings. This build-out project will transform the 48,000 gross square feet of shell space into research labs and related support spaces, faculty and staff offices, conference space and general support space, while also installing necessary mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and equipment. Existing space totaling approximately 3,000 gross square feet in the basement of Neurosciences near the tunnel connecting the two buildings will also be renovated for additional research and support space.
