Project description

This first phase of a two-phase project will replace aging chillers at the Main Chilled Water Plant and add new chillers at the Woodlawn and Union Street plants to support growing energy and utility demands on the Bloomington campus. The project also includes upgrades to chilled water controls, optimization software, and related infrastructure to improve system efficiency while leveraging existing plant capacity. A new connection between the Union Street and Forest Quad plants will integrate Union Street into the central system, increasing reliability and flexibility. Together, these improvements will add more than 3,200 tons of cooling capacity to the campus chilled water system while enhancing long-term energy performance and system resilience.
